Schwinn Traxion: Features and Specifications

Frame and fork

The Traxion is a great bike for challenging exercise outdoors or just cruising around the park, and it comes with an excellent frame and fork. The aluminum dual suspension frame and powerful Schwinn suspension fork are great for soaking up bumps and thumps.

And the material is super strong and durable, so this bike will be with you for a long time. The suspension is basic but comfortable, and it can absorb jolts that you’d expect to rattle your bones. With 80 mm of travel fork suspension, you’ll feel like you’re gliding over rough terrain.

The rear suspension is adjustable, however the front forks are quite soft and not adjustable.

The bike is well-adjusted and ready to ride right out of the box, and it’s great for non-aggressive riding. The frame is really cool with a black finish and neon accents, although not everyone will be into the neon.

Gears and Brakes

The Schwinn Traxion has some serious gear power with 24-speed shifters and front and rear derailleurs. This makes gear changes easy and smooth, even on rough terrain. Plus, the durable Schwinn alloy cranks provide steady gearing and less maintenance.

But that’s not all, this bike also has front and rear mechanical disc brakes, which provide crisp all-weather stopping power out on the trail. The brakes are very responsive, so you’ll have no need to worry about stopping on time.

The Traxion is a great all-rounder, perfect for exploring trails or just cruising around town. The bike is well-built and feels sturdy, yet lightweight.

It’s easy to handle and responsive to your movements, making for comfortable rides. The suspension fork and disc brakes work together to absorb shock and provide smooth, reliable stopping power.

One thing to note is that you may need to fine-tune the brakes and shifters when you first get the bike. But don’t worry, it’s an easy fix. Just put a little grease on the threads and take them down to just beyond finger tight.

Wheels and Tires

The Traxion’s wheels and tires provide a reliable and comfortable ride that’s perfect for a variety of off-road adventures.

The extra wide double wall alloy rims are both light and strong, making them durable and reliable for whatever terrain you’re tackling. The 2.25 inch wide knobby mountain tires can handle bumpy trails like a pro.

Despite the generic knobs, these tires provide impressive grip and traction, giving you the confidence to conquer challenging trails.

The tires are 29-inch, and are smooth for trail riding, particularly when exploring rough and rocky trails, and with 24 speeds, you can easily find the perfect gear for any slope or incline.

Saddle and Handlebars

I have to say that the saddle is very stiff and uncomfortable, which is not a surprise since most budget bikes come with the worst saddles. After the first ride on this bike, you’d certainly need a new saddle, you may even choose to get a new one right away.

And for the handlebars, they are nice and wide at 720 mm with a 31.8 mm diameter, held on by a 90 mm alloy stem. The wide handlebars provide a comfortable and stable grip for the rider, and the grips are lock-on with a ripped pattern. And there is also a trigger shifter tucked in there for easy speed controls with your fingers.

Size and weight

The Schwinn Traxion Mountain Bike has an 18” medium frame size and is recommended for riders between 5’9” to 6’2”. Traxion weighs 38 lbs, so we can say that it’s relatively light. But it can handle a maximum rider weight limit of 300 pounds, great for heavy riders.

The standover height is around 32 inches, which makes it a “big” bike, and the 29-inch tires are perfect for tall riders, from 5’9” and taller.

It comes in various colors to match your style and is available in different sizes to fit riders of different heights. Traxion is a solid, heavy, and secure bike, making it an excellent choice for fun outdoor adventures.

Price and warranty

Schwinn Traxion is a very budget-friendly bike. At the time of publishing this article, you could get one with less than $400, you can Check current price on Amazon. This is a very good price for a full-suspension mountain bike. And it gives you room for plenty of upgrades, if you like to play around with your bike, you can customize anyhow you wish.

Like most Schwinn bikes, you get a limited lifetime warranty when you purchase the Traxion Mountain Bike.

Ride quality and performance

If you’re looking for a bike that can handle tough terrain, the Schwinn Traxion is definitely worth considering. With its lightweight frame and 24-speed drivetrain, it’s a nimble ride that can take you through even the toughest trails with ease.

This bike is super responsive, and the brakes and gears work perfectly. The shock system is a huge plus, especially if you have bad knees like me. It’s super smooth on pavement, and the big tires handle rough terrain like a champ.

Speaking of the tires, they’re a real highlight of the Traxion. It comes with multiple-section mountain tires that give you fantastic grip on rough surfaces, and the 2.25-inch width is just right for mountain riding.

The tires are thick enough to help with shock absorption, but not so thick that they create too much friction with the ground.

You’ll also get to enjoy the dual suspension system, which works really well to dampen trails noise and reduce impacts from rough trails. Finally, the disc brakes are very responsive, and will stop the bike on a dime.

I’m really impressed with the Traxion. It’s a great choice for anyone who wants a bike that can handle off-road riding. Whether you’re cruising around the neighborhood or tackling rugged trails, this bike can do it all.

Although the fork does feel a bit annoying at times, it’s not a major issue. It’s strong enough to absorb shock and give you a comfortable, enjoyable riding experience.

Schwinn Traxion is a great bike for the money. It has everything you need for a fun and comfortable ride, whether you’re hitting the trails or just cruising around town.
